Artificial Intelligence

Today, the amount of medical images used for disease diagnosis increases rapidly due to advances in medical image acquisition and inclusion of new imaging protocols in clinical practice.  This rising demand for imaging examinations puts pressure on radiologists to screen these images, but also provides opportunities to develop more efficient and accurate computer-aided image analysis tools through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

An example application is the use of AI for brain tumor segmentation and characterization from MR images.

At IBiTech, we are developing a fast and fully automated 3D pipeline to segment brain tumors and predict key attributes for optimal diagnosis, prognosis and therapy planning. Using 3D convolutional neural networks, brain tumors can be segmented and characterized based on pre-therapy MRI with high accuracy.
