The core research activities of IBiTech are computational and experimental modelling of biofluids, tissue and medical device mechanics; advanced medical image and signal analysis; (pre)clinical imaging system design and imaging biomarkers as tools for personalized medicine. The research at IBiTech typically starts from clinically relevant questions in order to support a better understanding and diagnosis of pathologies and patient-specific treatments using ingeniously designed algorithms and medical devices.

The core expertise of IBiTech-Biommeda focuses on computational and experimental modelling of biofluids, tissue and medical device mechanics as tools for personalized medicine and molecular modelling. Hereby, research at Biommeda typically starts from clinically relevant questions in order to support and valorize a better understanding and diagnosis of pathophysiological problems, patient-specific treatment planning, and the design of medical devices.

The core research activities of IBiTech-MEDISIP are advanced medical image and signal analysis, (pre)clinical imaging system design and medical imaging biomarkers as tools for personalized medicine. The research within MEDISIP is application driven with the main goal to benefit patient diagnosis and treatment.

INFINITY (Innovative Flemish In vivo Imaging Technology) is the expertise center of Ghent University for non-invasive in vivo imaging of small laboratory animals. The mission of INFINITY is to provide state-of-the-art preclinical medical imaging as a service to facilitate translation of research from in vitro tests to laboratory animal investigations and clinical practice. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the world of microscopic imaging and clinical imaging. This enables the evaluation of novel imaging biomarkers, novel tracers, novel drugs, novel biological concepts, and disease phenotyping using living laboratory animal models.

BEAM is the  student association that unites all biomedical engineering students at Ghent University (UGent) and Brussels University (VUB). It's BEAM's ambition to establish a direct link between students and companies in the biomedical industry, as well as improving social cohesion among its students. Throughout the year, BEAM organizes lectures, networking events, company visits, social activities and other events related to the exhilarating field of biomedical engineering. BEAM has around a 100 master’s students under its wings.

MedTeG facilitates and supports the development of new, innovative medical technologies through its robust ecosystem in Ghent, with a strong network accross the country and beyond.
